It is the duty of any employer to ensure that they take precautions to protect their employees from harassment, violence and stress.
Any form of harassment or violence against workers can cause stress and in some cases injury and is always unacceptable. Violence and harassment at work can be committed by colleagues, managers and third parties such as clients, customers and patients.
Lone workers, who work by themselves without close or direct supervision must be risk assessed to ensure any potential risks are identified and suitable controls put in place.
This online course would fall into the category of a General Health and Safety Training course that Safety trainers would find useful to train relevant staff and employees especially lone workers and those that deal face to face with the public and handle cash. Bar workers and anybody involved in enforcing regulations would require this training. This course meets the training requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. It also meets the requirements of CHAS, SafeContractor, Construction line, Exor and other SSIP registrations plus HSE safety training requirements.

The Lone worker safety awareness certificate has no expiry date because there is no formally recognised period of validity for any health and safety training. The HSE recommends refresher training is carried out whenever it is felt necessary. Safety registration bodies such as CHAS, SafeContractor, ConstructionLine & SMAS and other members of the SSiP scheme recommend most re-training is done every 3 years.
All of our courses, systems and services have been registered to the internationally recognised ISO 9001:2015 quality standard. Quality Management Systems Ltd (QMS) made this prestigious award to Commodious in January 2018. This gives assurance that the training and assessment was completed with a quality registered organisation.
This online lone working and violence at work awareness course will help organisations meet their legal obligations and provide candidates with a basic awareness of the dangers associated with lone working and violence at work and the management and control measure required to control the risks.
After completing the course, candidates will:
Understand the risks associated with lone working;
Understand the risks and health effects associated with violence at work;
Have knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework that underpins violence at work;
Be aware of the methods required to assess the risk;
Be aware of the management and control requirements and precautions needed to minimise the risk.
The course comprises 3 interactive modules and a final assessment. Links to recommended reading and additional resources may be provided within the training modules. These links are not mandatory and will not be tested for in the final assessment.
It takes approximately 35 minutes to complete the course in full. This can be spread out over multiple sessions or completed in a single session. There is no time limit for completion.
All candidates must complete a multiple choice assessment after working through the training material. The candidate will be asked 16 multiple choice questions, randomly chosen from a larger question pool, and need to answer a minimum of 12 correctly to pass. Candidates will be given instant feedback after completing the assessment stating whether they have passed or failed. The assessment can be re-taken as many times as is required to pass at no additional cost.
