Sharps Awareness Training - Target Audience

Needlestick injury and sharps injury are avoidable, but sadly common in workplaces where their use is required. Accidents can happen when everything is done to follow safe sharps practices. So a sharps injury protocol must be in place in case of accidents.

The Health and Safety (Sharp Instruments in Healthcare) Regulations 2013 places a duty on employers.

  • They must ensure safe sharps practices are followed.
  • They must have sharps disposal done safely.
  • They must report certain needlestick injuries.
  • And they must provide training on best use of sharps practice as well as the above.

This online course would fall into the category of a General Health and Safety Training course that Safety trainers would find useful to train relevant staff and employees to work with sharps. As well as meeting these training requirements and the Health and Safety (Sharp Instruments in Healthcare) Regulations 2013. It is also fully CPD certified.

Sharps Awareness Training - Accreditation and Certification

CPD Certificate

Successful candidates will receive a CPD Certificate and 2 CPD Credits.

This course certificate has no expiry date because there is no formally recognised period of validity for any health and safety training or this type of course. The HSE recommends refresher training is carried out whenever it is felt necessary. Safety registration bodies such as CHAS, SafeContractor, ConstructionLine & SMAS and other members of the SSiP scheme recommend that most re-training is done every 3 years. We would recommend refreshing knowledge as and when legislation or guidance changes applicable to these regulations.

All of our courses, systems and services have been registered to the internationally recognised ISO 9001:2015 quality standard. Quality Management Systems Ltd (QMS) made this prestigious award to Commodious in January 2018. This gives assurance that the training and assessment was completed with a quality registered organisation.
