Safeguarding Children Level 1 Course - Target Audience

Safeguarding is a term used to denote measures to protect the health, well-being and human rights of individuals, which allow people, especially children, young people and vulnerable adults to live free from abuse, harm and neglect.

There are certain requirements and responsibilities when working with children that should be adhered to.

This level 1 online awareness course describes these requirements and responsibilities. It is suitable for anyone to work with children including volunteers, nursery and school workers, activity club workers and those working in a nursing or care capacity.

Safeguarding Online Course Level 1

Safeguarding Children Awareness Course Level 1 - Objectives

This online course discusses the requirements of legislation such as the Care Act 2014 (UK) and the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 (UK) and how the requirements relate to anyone working with children including volunteers, nursery and school workers, activity club workers and those working in a nursing or care capacity.

The main objective of the course is to help protect children from abuse and neglect. All the main principles of safeguarding are covered so that candidates will have a good basic knowledge and be able to recognise the signs of abuse and neglect.

After completing the course candidates will :

  • Be aware of the requirements of safeguarding legislation and guidance, understand the various types of abuse, and the 4 R’s - with regard to Safeguarding.

  • Be aware of how to recognise the signs, respond, report, and record abuse.

  • Understand the obstacles to responding and disclosure.

  • Be aware of organisation responsibilities, the Disclosure Barring Service, codes of conduct on a personal and contractor level.
