Equality and Diversity Training - Target Audience

The world is a diverse place, and everyone has a different set of cultures, experiences and perspectives that make them unique. People have the right to be treated fairly and with respect, receive equal opportunities, and have their differences celebrated.

However, some people are subjected to unacceptable behaviour because of their differences, often unintentionally or without realising. As a result, it is important that we all understand equality and diversity, and what we can do to foster good working environments and relationships with those around us.

This equality, diversity and inclusion training course's content provides a comprehensive overview of what equality, diversity and inclusion are, and explores some of the ways in which differences can be valued and discrimination avoided. It is suitable for all employers and employees, regardless of sector or industry.

Equality and Diversity Training - Course Overview

Overview

Equality, diversity and inclusion are incredibly valuable and should be promoted in the workplace for a wide range of reasons, not simply because the Equality Act 2010 makes it illegal to discriminate against someone because of their protected characteristics.

Creating an open and inclusive workplace can help an organisation to attract new talent, increase staff retention, better understand and interact with a wide range of customers, and support employees to reach their full potential.

After completing this course, learners will understand:

  • What equality, diversity and inclusion are, and their benefits.
  • The requirements of the Equality Act 2010.
  • The characteristics that are protected against discrimination.
  • How to promote equality and diversity in the workplace.

Duration

It takes approximately 45 minutes to complete the course in full. This can be spread out over multiple sessions or completed in a single session. There is no time limit for completion.

Assessment

All candidates must complete a multiple choice assessment after working through the training material. The candidate will be asked 16 multiple choice questions, randomly chosen from a larger question pool, and need to answer a minimum of 12 correctly to pass. Candidates will be given instant feedback after completing the assessment stating whether they have passed or failed. The assessment can be re-taken as many times as is required to pass at no additional cost.

This equality and diversity training course certificate has no expiry date because there is no formally recognised period of validity for this type of course. The HSE recommends refresher training is carried out whenever it is felt necessary. Safety registration bodies such as CHAS, SafeContractor, ConstructionLine & SMAS and other members of the SSiP scheme recommend that most re-training is done every 3 years. We would recommend refreshing knowledge as and when legislation or guidance changes applicable to these regulations.

All of our courses, systems and services have been registered to the internationally recognised ISO 9001:2015 quality standard. Quality Management Systems Ltd (QMS) made this prestigious award to Commodious in January 2018.
