Commodious joins the Health in Construction Leadership Group

Date: 24.05.2021

As a member of the Independent Asbestos Training Providers (IATP), Commodious provides health and safety training and learning materials with the shared goal of creating safer workspaces in the UK.

The IATP led a national campaign to increase asbestos regulations compliance and improve the standard of training delivered to the UK workforce - standards we are proud to meet.

On Tuesday 18th May 2021, the IATP announced it had become a member of the Health in Construction Leadership Group (HCLG). As members of the IATP, we at Commodious are very glad to hear this news and proud to join such an important community.

HCLG are a group dedicated to unifying the construction industry in its approach to worker health protection and the promotion, adoption and implementation of the best practices and initiatives. The Group is composed of contractors, clients, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), professional bodies, trade associations and trade unions.

HCLG is committed to eradicating thousands of cases of ill-health and disease caused by exposure to health hazards during construction work. The Group also aims to address the growing number of cases of mental illness throughout the construction industry.

With a target date of 2025 to make significant impacts and changes across the industry, the HCLG intends to “focus on the key areas of promoting good mental health, ‘healthy design’, the prevention of respiratory disease, the prevention of musculoskeletal disorders, and the provision of quality health data for the industry.”
